Where's the Band Tour Set for January 2010

The 2010 Where’s the Band? Tour is set to trek around the West Coast in January.  The tour is comprised of frontmen from established bands playing solo acoustic sets.  This year’s tour features Dustin Kensrue (Thrice), Matt Pryor (The Get Up Kids), Chris Conley (Saves the Day), and Anthony Raneri (Bayside).  The guys will be playing four shows at small venues in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Anaheim.

This is the second incarnation of the Where’s the Band? Tour.  The tour originated in January 2009 with ten dates in the Midwest.  All of the dates sold out.  During the shows the singers would sit in for each other’s sets and create something that fans had never heard or witnessed before and might never again.

Tickets for the tour are now available for presale through Ducat King and will be available to the general public starting Nov. 12.

Warped Tour Photos: Thrice

Thrice was one of the most exciting bands on the whole Warped Tour.  They rocked the main stage early in the day in Mountain View, and we snapped a handful of photos.  You can also check out the full review of the set written by LEAHNICOLE.

Concert Review: Thrice

Thrice took the stage at exactly 11:45am in Mountain View, CA. They were the first band on the Main Stage that day and fans rushed the lines so they wouldn't miss the set. At first it seemed that the crowd wasn't that responsive until lead singer, Dustin Kensrue, belted out a very familiar opening lyric that woke up the crowd. “Artist in the Ambulance” is definitely one of those songs that catches the fans attention. By that time the crowd swelled with fans shouting out lyrics to the band's songs. Once the band saw this reaction, they seemed to wake up a little more also.

The set consisted of mostly songs from the albums “Vheissu” and “The Alchemy Index”. With only a forty minute set, they still managed to play two songs from their new album “Beggars”. It was a bit of a treat when they announce that one of the bonus tracks on the album was a cover of The Beatles “Helter Skelter”. On that note, they executed that song very well. Guitarist and bass player, Teppei Teranishi and Eddie Breckenridge, described it as “sloppy and melodic” but I’m sure fans thought different about the sloppy part because the band had most of the crowd singing and dancing. As the sound was blasting through the speakers and you could hear every melody perfectly.

Thrice ended their set with “The Earth Will Shake” which was a great song to end with due to it's intense message. Every Thrice fan was chanting and pumping their fists in the air. The vibe throughout the crowd was phenomenal. The band left their fans screaming for more. If you weren’t at Warped Tour this year or you got in too late, don’t fear because Thrice will be touring with Brand New in the fall as well as headlining their own tour. Also, don’t forget to pick up a copy of “Beggars” when its released on September 15, 2009. It’s available on iTunes as of now, but the physical release will include 5 bonus tracks. Be on the lookout for our interview with Teppei and Eddie later this week!

Thrice to Release "Beggars" Tomorrow via iTunes

Thrice just tweeted:

"@OfficialThrice: "Beggars" is out on iTunes tomorrow (8/11). Please help us spread the word. #thricebeggars"

So get rid of your pirated copies, and support the band.  They worked hard, and unfortunately fell victim to an extremely early leak.  Make sure you buy your copy and hear it the way the band intended it to be heard.

Brand New Announces Fall Tour

This October Brand New will embark on a fall headlining tour of North America in support of their highly anticipated new full length album, Daisy, out September 22nd on DGC/Interscope/Procrastinate Music Traitors. The coast to coast trek kicks off on October 1st in Cleveland, OH and the band has tapped a few of their friends as main support along the way. For the first leg they’ll be joined by Manchester Orchestra, for the second leg Thrice will be joining them and on the third and last leg they will be joined by Glassjaw. As previously announced, Glassjaw will also be joining them in Uniondale, LI at the Nassau Coliseum homecoming event on November 28th. This special show sold 6,000+ tickets in the first 24 hours!

The fall North American tour will follow main stage performances at both Reading and Leeds – where Brand New are fifth on the bill behind Radiohead, Bloc Party, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Vampire Weekend. These festival dates in August will mark their second trip to the UK this year. The band headed over in June and sold out ever single date including Manchester Academy (2370 capacity), Birmingham @ 02 Academy (3000 capacity) and The Forum in London (2300 capacity). They followed the UK dates up with a small US tour in July of underplays that sold out each venue in record time including shows at Slim’s in SF, Epicentre in San Diego, the Troubadour in LA and the Music Hall of Williamsburg which Bowery Presents’ Josh Moore said, “There’s no way to know how quickly it actually sold out because it was literally gone instantly and the good thing is we know all the tickets went to actual fans and not re-sellers.”

Episode 41: Thrice, Bayside, Girl in a Coma, and The Dangerous Summer

The Rock N Roll Super Show - Episode 41: Thrice, Bayside, Girl in a Coma, and The Dangerous Summer from The Rock n Roll Super Show on Vimeo.

In yet another super-sized episode of The Rock N Roll Super Show, Danny talks to four awesome bands.

He caught up with Bayside and Thrice at this year's Vans Warped Tour, and they talked about having short set times, dealing with the hot weather, and Dustin from Thrice tells us why he will not be going to see Transformers 2.

Danny also talks to Girl in a Coma, a great three piece band from San Antonio, TX. The girls talk about the music scene in San Antonio, and how you don't have to be an Austin band to be successful.

The Dangerous Summer talks to Danny about their BBQ Across America tour with Ace Enders, and they also tell us about their latest record.

Thrice Comments on Album Leak

Yesterday Thrice's new album, Beggars, leaked three months before it was set to release. The band hadn't even heard tha album before fans all over the world were pirating it and shoving it into their iPods. The band released a statement today on their website. You can read the statement below.

From Thrice:

"By now, we’re sure you’re aware of what happened yesterday/late Monday night, and we’re sorry we weren’t able to comment until now, but we didn’t want to address the issue without taking a day to regroup and discuss our options in dealing with this unfortunate situation. Thanks for your patience in that regard.

Obviously, we’re incredibly disappointed with what happened. We understand that records leak constantly and that it’s almost entirely unavoidable nowadays, but we never thought we’d have to deal with a record leaking three months before it’s release date, and certainly never thought we’d have to deal with a leak before anyone in the band had even gotten a master reference of the record, or before the artwork for the booklet had even been completed. We’re also disappointed that you’re hearing the record for the first time, watermarked, with a Vagrant Records voiceover over every song. And we’re disappointed that the leak has thrown a massive and immovable wrench into the efforts that many people have made to prepare for the three months leading up to release. That said, what’s done is done, and we’re moving forward.

“Beggars” will be available for download, legally and voiceover free–the way it was intended to be heard–as soon as we can possibly make it happen. Leaks happen overnight. Changing an entire retail marketing plan doesn’t.

Finally, we’d like to thank those of you who have resisted the urge to download this leak, those of you who have been supportive of us in online forums as this thing began to spread yesterday, and those of you who have heard the record and are sharing kind words about it. We always appreciate your support, but even more so right now."

Check out our interview with Thrice at Warped Tour tomorrow, and be on the lookout for a legal download of Beggars coming soon.
